Michele Grieco PT, DPT
Michele Grieco is a Physical Therapist at First Step Physical Therapy.
She graduated from Hofstra University in 2011 with a bachelor of science degree in Biological Sciences and a minor in Chemistry. Michele also was a scholarship athlete who ran for the Hofstra’s Division I Cross Country team in 2007 and 2008.
At Hofstra, Michele received Cum Laude Honors for her academic performance as well as the Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner’s Academic Award.
Michele attended Stony Brook University from 2011- 2014 where she graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. While at Stony Brook University, she performed clinical rotations at Sun Harbor Manor Skilled Nursing Facility, Bellmore Physical Therapy, The Therapy SPOT, and Body in Balance Physical Therapy developing the clinical practice skills needed to treat a diverse patient population. While at Stony Brook, she Co-founded the Stony Brook Running Club.
Michele worked at Orlin and Cohen Orthopedics before joining the staff at First Step Physical Therapy as a physical therapist in 2015. She continues to pursue continuing education course work in the fields of running form /rehab as well as prosthetic and amputee rehabilitation in order to provide expert care for the able-bodied and amputee runner alike. Michele plans to sit for the orthopedic clinical specialist board exam in the near future.
Michele continues to pursue her love of running as a member of the We Are Athletes Racing Team. She continues to participate in various local road races including the LI Half Marathon, Cow Harbor 10K, and Ocean to Sound Relay to name a few.
Some of her recent accomplishments include being the 6th woman finisher of the LI Half Marathon in 2012 with a time of 1:29:10, finishing 96th overall and 2nd in her age group in the 2015 Cow Harbor 10K with a time of 40:49.8, and finishing 16th overall and 3rd in her age group in the 2015 Post-Office 5K with a time of 19:33.
Currently, Michele plans to obtain a personal record in the Brooklyn Half Marathon in May 2016.
